Fire in Fethiye grows under the influence of wind: Flames approach residential areas

The forest fire continuing in the Yokuşbaşı area of Yeşilüzümlü Neighborhood in Fethiye showed growth again due to the strong wind effective in the region. It was reported that with the change of wind direction, the flames advanced towards residential areas at some points. Following the growth of the fire, teams from the General Directorate of Forestry, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, AFAD, gendarmerie and other support teams have increased their intervention at critical points. The fire is being intensely fought from the air with fire-fighting helicopters and planes, and from the ground with fire trucks, water tankers, and construction machinery.
In the region where the strong wind occasionally complicates the intervention, the teams are racing against time to prevent the flames from reaching residential areas.
