Great Interest in India Yoga Days in Fethiye

India Yoga Days, organized for the first time in the district in cooperation with Fethiye Municipality and the Consulate General of India in Istanbul, offered participants unforgettable moments with the peaceful yoga session at sunset and the colorful enthusiasm of the traditional Holi Festival. The event, which established a historic friendship bridge between two cultures, received great interest.

“India Yoga Days,” organized in cooperation with the Consulate General of India in Istanbul and Fethiye Municipality, featured colorful scenes. Yoga, culture, and art came together at the events held in Şehit Fethi Bey Park. Fatih Ugan, Deputy Mayor of Fethiye, who spoke at the program, stated that the event holds historic importance in terms of relations between Fethiye and India.

Ugan said, “Within the scope of the Yoga Days event organized for the first time in Fethiye, today we are taking an important step to develop the friendship and cooperation between Fethiye and India. This event, held together with the Consulate General of India in Istanbul, carries historic significance. Because it is the first time such a relationship has been established between the Fethiye district and India. Thanks to events like these, we get to know each other better, see our differences, and discover our common values. As Fethiye Municipality, we will continue to support all kinds of cultural cooperation that will contribute to the development of friendship relations between Turkey and India,” he said.

“YOGA HELPS US STAY AGILE”

Speaking at the event, India’s Consul General in Istanbul, Mijito Vinito, said, “We are very happy to celebrate International Yoga Day in Fethiye for the first time this year. Yoga offers important benefits for a healthy and active life,” he said. Vinito added, “We are grateful to Fethiye Municipality for cooperating with us during this year’s International Yoga Day celebrations. International Yoga Day was declared in 2014 by a unanimous resolution adopted by the United Nations. This year, we are celebrating the 12th anniversary of this day and we are very happy to realize this celebration for the first time in Fethiye. Yoga, as a form of exercise, helps us stay healthy, strong, active, and agile,” he said.

The yoga event held at sunset attracted intense interest from participants. The program held at Şehit Fethi Bey Park was attended by many local and foreign citizens. After the yoga event, celebrations of Holi, known as India’s traditional color festival, followed. In the colorful celebrations, participants enjoyed themselves with music. DJ Beysun Özbek took the stage during the event, creating moments full of enthusiasm at the festival area.
