Houses are being evacuated and protection lines are being established in Yeşilüzümlü, Fethiye
The forest fire in Yeşilüzümlü Neighborhood of Fethiye, which intensified again due to the wind, has started to threaten residential areas. While houses at risk are being evacuated as a precaution, teams are creating protection lines by felling trees with cranes to prevent the flames from reaching residential areas.
Critical hours are being experienced in the ongoing forest fire in Yeşilüzümlü Neighborhood of Fethiye. As the flames grew stronger under the effect of strong wind and approached residential areas, some houses began to be evacuated as a precaution. To prevent the fire from reaching the residential areas, teams from the General Directorate of Forestry, fire department, AFAD, gendarmerie, and municipal teams are working in coordination. While intensive intervention continues both from the air and on the ground, extensive security measures are taken around residential areas.
Teams are creating protection strips by carefully felling trees near the residential areas with construction machinery and cranes to stop the advance of the flames. This aims to reduce the risk of the fire spreading and protect the houses.
Firefighting helicopters and planes continuously carry out water drops on critical points, while ground teams continue their work in difficult terrain conditions with tankers, water trucks, and construction machinery.
The local community also continues to support the teams in fighting the fire. Citizens living in the evacuated houses are being directed to safe areas.
