Turkish, English and Chinese signs are placed on the streets of Fethiye

Fethiye Municipality has started placing decorative direction signs prepared in Turkish, English and Chinese at different points of the district so that domestic and foreign visitors can find their way more easily within the city.

Fethiye Municipality has moved to the implementation phase of the multilingual direction sign project launched to enable foreign tourists visiting the district to find their way more easily within the city.

At the Fethiye Municipal Council meeting in July last year, the decision to place direction signs in foreign languages at certain points in the district was unanimously approved. After completing the necessary procedures, the installation works of the signs have started.

In the new direction signs, priority will be given to important places such as "District Governorate", "Municipality", "Hospital", "Port", "Post Office", "Historical Bazaar Paspatur", "Museum", "Police Station", "Kordonboyu", "Customs", "Ölüdeniz", "Kayaköy", "Amintas King Tombs" etc., especially to make the holidays of tourists visiting Fethiye easier.

IT BROUGHT THE SECURITY DEBATE ALONG

The newly installed direction signs are considered a positive step in terms of tourism, while it drew attention that they were positioned at a height close to human height, especially on the streets inside the bazaar. In areas with intense pedestrian traffic, criticisms were made that the protruding structure of the signs could cause pedestrians walking absentmindedly or in crowds to bump into them and get injured.
