Female president for Fethiye City Council Disabled Assembly

The Disabled Assembly management election held in the Fethiye Municipality Council meeting hall started with the opening and roll call.

After the moment of silence and the singing of our National Anthem, the election of the council committee was held. The chair of the elective ordinary general assembly was carried out by Necdet Yaman, President of the Fethiye Mental Disabled Association, and the deputy chairmanship by muhtar Zafer Arıkan.

Necdet Yaman, who served as president of the Fethiye Municipality City Council Disabled Assembly for 2 terms, in his speech informed about the Disabled Assembly and gave information on the work done during the 2-year period.

Necdet Yaman said, “We must not forget that for a city to become livable, disabled people also share living spaces. City councils have assemblies. These assemblies work within their areas. The disabled assembly is one of them. I served as president of the disabled assembly for two terms. I am not a candidate again.

According to the regulations, those who have served as president of the City Council Disabled Assembly for 2 terms cannot run again. However, I will always support the new management in their work and stand by them. I wish them success and good fortune.” Continuing his speech, Necdet Yaman said, “I worked with the principle of having a representative from each of our associations in our Disabled Assembly for 2 terms. We visited the disabled associations in our district.

We received information about their work and problems. We provided services within social solidarity. We implemented projects to facilitate the lives of physically disabled individuals. I would like to sincerely thank our Fethiye Mayor Mr. Alim Karaca, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Ahmet Aras, and institution directors who always support us.” After the speeches, the election for the presidency and executive board of the Fethiye Municipality City Council Disabled Assembly was held. Emek Karagöz, a member of the Fethiye Mental Disabled Association, was elected as the president of the Fethiye Municipality City Council Disabled Assembly, who was the sole candidate for the presidency.

Ilyas Arıkan, Cemil Yanar, Doğan Çaprak, İhsan Aytanç, Dilek Ayaz, and Nazlı Avcı were elected as full members of the Fethiye Municipality City Council Disabled Assembly. Beyza Zorbaz, Ümit Göktepe, and Kader Koca were elected as substitute members.

In her statement, the new president of the Fethiye Municipality City Council Disabled Assembly, Emek Karagöz, said, “Making our cities, education system, and employment opportunities accessible for everyone is not a favor but a requirement of justice. Our fundamental goal is to ensure that disabled individuals participate in every area of life equally, independently, and with dignity, without any restrictions.”
