Fethiye Aims to Become a Brand City in Bicycle Tourism
The potential of bicycle tourism in Fethiye district of Muğla was shared with international participants at the Velo-city 2026 Conference, one of the world's most important bicycle organizations.
Representatives of Fethiye attending the 46th Velo-city 2026 Conference held in Rimini, Italy, introduced the district's natural beauties, historical riches, and projects aimed at bicycle tourism. At the conference, the Ancient Pedal routes of Fethiye extending with nature and sea views were highlighted.
Within the scope of efforts to extend tourism throughout the 12 months of the year, bicycle tourism is aimed to hold an important place among Fethiye's alternative tourism fields.
In presentations at the conference, historical routes bearing traces of the Lycian civilization, natural trails, and bicycle routes developed within the framework of sustainable transportation were introduced to international tourism professionals.
Ancient Pedal Routes Attracted Interest
It was emphasized that the Ancient Pedal routes established in Fethiye's unique geography offer important opportunities in terms of sports tourism and sustainable tourism. It was stated that the routes shared with participants offer the possibility to experience the region's cultural heritage and natural beauties together.
The conference also addressed the importance of bicycles as an environmentally friendly transportation tool in urban life, sustainable transportation policies, and bicycle-friendly city practices.
It was stated that efforts to promote bicycle use in Fethiye, support eco-friendly transportation models, and to elevate the district among international bicycle tourism destinations will continue.
While drawing attention to the increasing importance of alternative destinations in the tourism sector, it was noted that Fethiye is progressing toward becoming an important center in bicycle tourism with its natural and historical values.
