Message from Fatih Akkaya on "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day"
Fethiye District Governor Fatih Akkaya, in his message on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, emphasized that on July 15, 2016, the nation stood up for democracy and independence, commemorating the martyrs with mercy and the veterans with gratitude.
District Governor Akkaya included the following in his message:
"We are commemorating the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, which marks the anniversary of the epic struggle engraved in golden letters in our democracy history with the spirit of homeland and independence.
Our heroic nation, which fought for the homeland, democracy, and independence on July 15; just as centuries ago, once again showed the whole world its determination to protect the land it lives on and its glorious history. Our dear nation, which added a new chapter to the epics of heroism written in Kut'ül Ammare, Çanakkale, Sakarya, Dumlupınar, and the War of Independence, has once again proven that it can become martyrs and veterans without hesitation when needed for the sake of the homeland and the flag.
Our nation, united with its women, men, youth, and elderly, responded to the call of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, by taking to the squares; facing tanks, artillery, aircraft, helicopters, and weapons only with faith and love for the homeland, it defended democracy. Our nation, which did not leave the squares empty for days, showed the whole world that no force is above the national will.
With the support of all institutions of our state, our security forces, and our dear nation, our struggle against FETÖ, PKK, and all other terrorist organizations targeting the unity, togetherness, peace, and future of our country will continue with the same determination.
On this occasion; I commemorate with mercy all our dear martyrs who sacrificed their lives against the treacherous coup attempt that targeted the integrity of our state, the existence, independence, and freedom of our nation on July 15, and I remember our heroic veterans with gratitude and appreciation."
