Maritime and Cabotage Day Celebrated Enthusiastically in Bodrum
The 100th anniversary of Maritime and Cabotage Day was celebrated with official ceremonies and various events in Bodrum, as across the country.
The celebration program started with the laying of a wreath at the Atatürk Monument in Bodrum Municipality Square. Following a moment of silence and the national anthem, Bodrum Regional Port Director Tuncay Aydın delivered a speech on the significance of the day.
The ceremony was attended by Bodrum District Governor Ali Sırmalı, Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, district protocol, deputy mayors, council members, representatives of public institutions and organizations, non-governmental organizations, political party representatives, veterans, and citizens.
After the official ceremony, protocol members set sail on the Prime Time excursion boat. During the sea program, which Mayor Tamer Mandalinci also attended, a wreath was laid at sea in memory of Maritime Martyrs. The program featured water spray displays from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety’s Evacuation Rescue Boat, demonstrations by the Bodrum Passenger Port tugboat, and water sports shows.
As part of the celebrations, traditional competitions such as the greased pole climb, tug of war, plate pulling, and swimming races, along with folk dance performances, were held in front of Kumbahçe Municipality Cafe. Throughout the day, various events allowed citizens to feel the excitement of Maritime and Cabotage Day.
The celebration programs concluded with the 100th-year cocktail held at Bodrum CruisePort.
