The first step for the electric boat era in Dalyan

Preparations for a nature-friendly transportation model in Dalyan Channels and Köyceğiz Lake have accelerated. The goal is to reduce the environmental pressure with the electric boat transformation.

The rules have changed in Köyceğiz and Dalyan: Hundreds of boats will be affected

An important transformation aimed at protecting the environment is planned in Muğla’s iconic destinations, Dalyan Channels and Köyceğiz Lake.

The project envisaging the conversion of boats operating in the region to electric systems has moved to a new stage with the aim of both preserving wildlife and strengthening sustainable tourism.

A quieter era for loggerhead turtles

The prepared project aims not only to change the transportation system but also to protect the sensitive ecosystem of the region. With the use of electric boats, it is targeted that loggerhead sea turtles, which are under species protection, as well as bird species and other aquatic animals, will gain a safer habitat. Reducing noise will ease the pressure on wildlife and also contribute to the protection of Dalyan’s environmental values.

Goal to minimize environmental pollution

Within the scope of the project, it is planned to convert existing fossil fuel boats to electric systems. This transformation aims to reduce water and air pollution, lower noise levels, and bring carbon emissions close to zero. The implementation, which will preserve the natural texture of the region, is also expected to strengthen the environmentally friendly tourism approach.

Assessments were made at the management board meeting

The latest status of the Electric Boat Transformation Project was discussed at the Köyceğiz Lake and Dalyan Channels Management Board Meeting held under the chairmanship of Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık.

During the meeting, efforts to reduce environmental impacts in the region, which hosts thousands of local and foreign visitors every year, were evaluated and the current stage of the project was reviewed.

It will contribute to sustainable tourism

Officials stated that the electric boat transformation would not only provide environmental benefits but also strengthen the sustainable tourism vision of Dalyan and Köyceğiz.

With the planned implementation, the goal is to protect the natural riches of the region, allow visitors to experience a quieter and more environmentally friendly environment, and make tourism activities sustainable in the long term.
