Electric Boat Transformation Discussed at Dalyan Channel

At the meeting chaired by Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık, the electric boat transformation project planned to be implemented at Dalyan Channel with the goal of zero emissions and zero pollution was evaluated.

An evaluation meeting regarding the electric boat transformation project planned to be implemented at Dalyan Channel in line with the goals of protecting biological diversity, zero emissions, and zero pollution was held under the chairmanship of Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık.

During the meeting, the activities carried out within the scope of the project aiming to minimize environmental and noise pollution in Köyceğiz Lake and Dalyan Channels, which host thousands of domestic and foreign tourists annually with their unique reed beds and natural labyrinth structure, were discussed.

With the project, it is planned to convert fossil fuel-powered boats operating in the channel to electric systems. Thus, it is aimed to significantly reduce water, air, and noise pollution, while also preventing carbon emissions.

It was emphasized at the meeting that the transformation in question will not only contribute to environmental sustainability but also provide an important gain for bird species, aquatic life, and especially the loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) in the region to live in a safer and healthier ecosystem.
