A 40-member Chinese delegation led by Ambassador Xuebin is coming to Fethiye

The recent culture and tourism-focused collaborations between Fethiye Municipality and the People's Republic of China are entering a new phase.

Jiang Xuebin, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Ankara, will make official visits on July 9-10 with a team of about 40 people and will make a two-day visit to Fethiye.

China's Ambassador to Turkey, Jiang Xuebin, conducted a program covering Muğla and Marmaris last May. The fact that the ambassador will now make a visit focused solely on Fethiye is seen as a concrete indicator of the strengthened relations between China and Fethiye in recent times.

As Fethiye prepares to host a Chinese Ambassador for the first time in history, a series of events aimed at developing culture, tourism, and sister city relations will be held as part of the visit.

The Chinese delegation, expected to arrive in Fethiye in two separate groups on July 8 and 9 and depart on July 10, will discuss existing relations between Fethiye and China and explore future cooperation opportunities during their meetings.

Joint Photo Exhibition

Within the scope of the visit, a joint exhibition will open, displaying photos sent from Huzhou, Fethiye's sister city in China, alongside photos of Fethiye taken by members of FEFSAD (Fethiye Photographers Association).

Chinese Direction Signs

One of the important topics of the visit will be the inauguration of Chinese road and directional signs, prepared following last year's unanimous decision of the Fethiye Municipal Council. The opening of these signs, which will be placed at tourism centers, historical sites, and important visit points, will be attended by Chinese guests.

Chinese Breeze at Telmessos Ancient Theatre

The most colorful part of the visit is expected to be a special show at Telmessos Ancient Theatre on the evening of July 9. A sound, music, and light show performed by 30 university students from Beijing will offer an unforgettable night to the people of Fethiye and both local and foreign visitors in the city.

New Opportunities Expected in Tourism

The historical first official visit of a Chinese Ambassador to Fethiye is seen as an important development for the city’s international promotion. Municipal authorities state that the relations established with China recently will be elevated to a higher level with this visit, and initiatives aiming to increase tourism flow from the Chinese market to Fethiye will continue.

Considered an important turning point in cultural diplomacy, sister city relations, and tourism cooperation, the visit is also expected to significantly contribute to Fethiye’s international visibility.
