Demolition of Illegal Structures in Bodrum: 64 Structures Removed

Bodrum Municipality continued its work on illegal structures with completed legal processes in the neighborhoods of Akyarlar, Gümüşlük, and Kadıkalesi. The Demolition Department teams of the Directorate of Technical Affairs removed walls, iron railings, and unauthorized structures occupying public areas. In a site in Akyarlar, the demolition of installations blocking citizens' access to the coast reopened the passage to the shore. In Gümüşlük, encroachments on public land were cleared, while two risky structures were demolished in Kadıkalesi. With the works carried out in July, the number of illegal structures removed in 2026 reached 64.

Structures Blocking Shore Access in Akyarlar Demolished

One of the latest locations for the Bodrum illegal structure demolition efforts was the Karaincir area in Akyarlar Neighborhood. Unauthorized iron railings and walls blocking a public park area and the coastal access route for citizens were detected at a site in the region. After completing the legal procedures for the illegal installations, municipal teams were dispatched to the area.

The Demolition Department teams of the Directorate of Technical Affairs took necessary safety measures around the area before starting work. Then, the structures blocking the park area and access to the shore were carefully removed. Upon completion of the work, the encroachment on the common use area ended and citizens regained access to the coast. The municipality stated that inspections aimed at preventing private use restrictions on the coasts and public areas would continue throughout the district.

Illegal Walls on Public Land Removed in Gümüşlük

Another completed operation took place in the Koyunbaba neighborhood of Gümüşlük. Illegal walls and similar unauthorized installations built on public land were demolished by Bodrum Municipality teams. With this work, physical barriers on an area that should be open to public use were removed. Following the demolition, rubble and excavation debris remaining in the area were collected by the teams. Environmental arrangements were also made to ensure the safe use of the area. This operation, carried out within the scope of the Bodrum illegal structure demolition program, returned the publicly owned area back to public use. Municipality teams not only demolish the unauthorized structures identified but also clear the resulting debris and organize the spaces after the work is completed.

64 Illegal Structures Demolished in Bodrum in 2026

Bodrum Municipality teams demolished 44 structures under the Zoning Law No. 3194 by the end of June. In the same period, 9 more structures were removed under the Squatter Law No. 775. Thus, the total number of illegal structures demolished in the first six months of the year was recorded as 53. With the continuation of the works in July, this number rose to 64. Within the scope of Bodrum illegal structure demolitions, not only buildings violating zoning regulations but also walls, railings, and attachments blocking public areas are removed. The municipality proceeds to the field after legal and administrative processes are completed for structures with demolition decisions. Controlled work is carried out during the procedures accompanied by safety measures to prevent damage to surrounding buildings and citizens.

Demolition of Two Risky Structures Completed in Kadıkalesi

The demolition of two buildings identified as risky structures under Law No. 6306 in the Kadıkalesi area was also carried out by municipal teams. The structures deemed dangerous regarding life and property safety were removed carefully after completing the necessary procedures. Demolition works continue on four other illegal structures with expired legal processes throughout the district. Bodrum Municipality continues inspections to protect public areas, keep coastal access open, and prevent unplanned construction. Teams examine unauthorized installations detected during field inspections as well as incoming reports. A demolition plan is prepared after applying the legal procedure for structures confirmed to be in violation of regulations.
