The 9th Stage of Underwater Cleaning in Bodrum Was Held in Gündoğan
The 9th stage of the Underwater Cleaning event, carried out by Bodrum Municipality under the slogan “Blue Suits the Sea Best”, was held at Gündoğan Bay in 2026. Approximately 410 kilograms of waste were removed from the sea during the work.
The Underwater Cleaning event organized by Bodrum Municipality to raise awareness about the protection of seas and increase environmental consciousness was carried out with the 9th stage of 2026 at Gündoğan Bay.
The event launched under the slogan “Blue Suits the Sea Best” was attended by Bodrum Municipality Council Member İbrahim Özten and Gündoğan Neighborhood Headman Ali İneci.
410 Kilograms of Waste Removed from the Sea
In the underwater cleaning carried out by the Bodrum Municipality volunteer diving team and the Green Rangers diving team, approximately 410 kilograms of waste were removed from the sea.
The waste removed included glass and plastic bottles, metal parts, beverage cans, disposable products, fishing gear, and various household wastes.
Ghost Nets, Tires and Camping Chair Caught Attention
Among the waste removed from the sea, a waxing machine, a camping chair, different sized tires from various vehicles, and ghost nets caught attention.
The collected waste was taken to Bodrum Municipality Class 1 Waste Collection Center for recycling.
Goal: To Protect the Marine Ecosystem
The event aimed to contribute to the protection of the marine ecosystem and to raise environmental awareness.
With activities carried out every week at a different bay by Bodrum Municipality, the objective is to contribute to sea cleaning and spread environmental awareness.
Events to Continue in Türkbükü
The “Blue Suits the Sea Best” Underwater Cleaning event will continue on Wednesday, July 22, at Türkbükü Bay.
