New Practice for Vegetable Waste Oils in Bodrum
Bodrum Municipality has placed vegetable waste oil collection containers at municipal service points throughout the district to recycle household vegetable waste oils without harming the environment.
With the application implemented under the protocol signed last week between Bodrum Municipality and HBT Muğla Recycling Industry and Trade Inc., citizens can leave the vegetable waste oils they collect at home in the collection containers at the nearest municipal service buildings.
The collected waste oils will be periodically picked up by the authorized company and processed at licensed recycling facilities. Municipal officials emphasized that pouring vegetable waste oils into the sink causes blockages in the sewage system, infrastructure failures, and environmental pollution.
According to research, just 1 liter of vegetable waste oil can pollute approximately 1 million liters of clean water, and it was stressed that collecting these wastes separately at the source and recycling them is very important for the preservation of natural resources.
Vegetable waste oils can be delivered to collection containers located at the Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate 1st Class Waste Drop-off Center, Yalıkavak Service Building, Müskebi Service Building, Mumcular Agricultural Services Directorate, Turgutreis and Konacık Police buildings, and Cevat Şakir Business Center Cleaning Services Directorate.
Bodrum Municipality invites citizens to collect their vegetable waste oils instead of pouring them down the sink and to deliver them to the nearest drop-off point. The application aims to protect infrastructure systems as well as to ensure the healthy transfer of water resources and natural life to future generations.
