Life-saving call from Bodrum Municipality
Bodrum Municipality launched a comprehensive information campaign under the slogan 'Be Prepared, Stay Safe' to increase social awareness against potential disasters and to strengthen the preparedness level of citizens.
Within the scope of the campaign conducted by Bodrum Municipality Disaster Affairs and Risk Management Directorate, the precautions to be taken before, during, and after natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods are shared with the citizens.
Through digital contents, informative posters, and brochures prepared for Bodrum Municipality's website, it is aimed to raise disaster awareness.
Within the campaign, citizens are advised that every family should definitely prepare a Disaster and Emergency Plan. To prevent communication breakdowns during a possible disaster, it is emphasized that family members should pre-determine meeting points, prepare emergency cards containing contact information, and that everyone should be familiar with this plan. It is also stated that having a Disaster and Emergency Bag prepared is of vital importance.
An important part of pre-disaster preparations, the "Hazard Hunt" application aims to identify potential risks at homes in advance. Attention is drawn to the necessity of securing items that can cause injuries by falling or toppling during an earthquake, and detailed explanations of items that need to be secured are provided to citizens. It is also suggested that all family members learn the locations of the electricity and natural gas valves and be able to safely shut them off if needed.
In the contents prepared by Bodrum Municipality, it is emphasized that panic should be avoided during an earthquake and the importance of applying the "Drop, Cover, Hold on" action during shaking is highlighted. Information is also provided about measures to be taken against flood and inundation risks.
Thanks to the QR codes in posters and brochures prepared within the campaign, citizens can easily view the nearest Emergency Assembly Areas on the map. Detailed information about the Hazard Hunt application can also be accessed through the same system. Bodrum Municipality officials invited all citizens to be prepared for disasters and to take necessary precautions without delay.
