In the Akbük region of Muğla, dry grass cleaning was carried out to prevent possible forest fires that could be caused by cigarette butts thrown on the roadsides.
Following the increased risk of forest fires in recent days, the Muğla Regional Forestry Directorate, Muğla Forest Management Directorate, and Denizova Forest Management Chief teams took action. The teams cleared the dry grass accumulating on the roadsides in the Akbük area that increased the fire risk with the help of a bulldozer.
Dry Grass on Roadsides Cleaned With Bulldozers
Within the scope of the work, especially dry grass and flammable materials that could be ignited by cigarette butts thrown from vehicles were removed from the roadsides. With this precaution, it is aimed to prevent fires that may occur due to increased temperature and drought in the summer months.
Öner Altaş, the owner of Altaş Restaurant & Boutique Hotel, which has been serving in Akbük since 1989, thanked the teams for their work to protect the forests.

Especially keeping in mind that the smallest negligence in summer months can lead to great disasters, we invite all our citizens and holidaymakers visiting our region to be sensitive not to leave cigarette butts or any waste that may cause fire on the roadsides.”
Altaş called on citizens to be sensitive about the environment and fire safety by saying, “Our forests are our future. Protecting these values is the common responsibility of all of us.”
