AK Party Fethiye District President Kadir Sarıhan stated that the forest fire that reignited in Yeşilüzümlü Neighborhood of Fethiye was brought under control with the intensive intervention of the teams, emphasizing that state institutions, volunteers, and citizens showed exemplary solidarity in fighting the fire.
AK Party Fethiye District President Kadir Sarıhan made statements regarding the forest fire that occurred in Yeşilüzümlü Neighborhood of Fethiye.
Sarıhan stated that the fire was largely brought under control two days ago and cooling efforts had begun, but today at noon, due to strong winds, high temperature, and low humidity, the fire reignited in the same area.
"The fire was brought under control in a short time"
Expressing that the teams intervened immediately in the fire, Sarıhan pointed out that air and land units took an active role in the extinguishing efforts.
Sarıhan said, "8 helicopters and 1 firefighting aircraft intervened from the air. A large number of fire trucks, construction machinery, and water support carried by citizens with tankers quickly intervened in the fire. Currently, the fire is under control, and cooling efforts continue in the region."
"Great efforts are being made in recent days"
Drawing attention to the consecutive forest fires in Fethiye and Seydikemer in recent days, Sarıhan stated that the teams worked with great dedication in the fires spreading from Karacaören Neighborhood to İnlice, as well as in the fires affecting six neighborhoods in Seydikemer.
He stressed that due to hot weather and strong winds during the summer months, the risk of fire increases, and the important thing is to bring the fires under control as soon as possible.
"Air vehicles make a significant contribution in firefighting"
Stating that the firefighting fleet has been strengthened in recent years, Sarıhan said that air vehicles considerably reduce the intervention time for fires.
Thanks to the effective interventions of firefighting planes and helicopters, the fires can be controlled before they grow, Sarıhan expressed, thanking all teams working on the ground.
"This struggle has no politics"
Addressing some claims raised during the fire process, Sarıhan emphasized the need to preserve unity and solidarity during disaster periods.
Sarıhan made the following assessment:
"During this process, we see speculations that differentiation was made between some regions and that some neighborhoods received less intervention. We do not find this correct. Just as our country becomes one heart in difficult times, today we show the same solidarity to protect our forests and green homeland. Statements that would harm this spirit of unity are not correct."
"Our greatest consolation is the absence of loss of life"
Emphasizing that the greatest consolation is that there has been no loss of life in the fires, Sarıhan stated that necessary efforts will be made to reforest the damaged forest areas.
At the end of his statement, Sarıhan thanked the General Directorate of Forestry, AFAD, gendarmerie, law enforcement, municipal teams, volunteers, and citizens supporting the firefighting efforts, and conveyed his best wishes to all people of Fethiye.
