Living in Datça for 15 Years: Poems and Essays Dedicated to Datça by Hüseyin Sarıbaş
Hüseyin Sarıbaş, a poet and writer living in Datça for 15 years, carries his love for Datça into his poetry and essay books. Sarıbaş, who has four books, said that his new work is also in preparation.

Speaking about his works, Sarıbaş said, “I have four books so far. Two of them are Datça-themed, poetry books related to the natural and historical structure of Datça. The other two are essay-style works that combine my own memories, past, and present. One of them is my book titled ‘Subjective History from the Pen of a Hemshin.’ Also, I have another book that narrates what I experienced during a concert journey from Düzce to Sochi, containing my observations and stories. The fifth one is currently in the preparation phase.”

Explaining how he decided to live in Datça, Sarıbaş emphasized that this choice was an important turning point in his life. Highlighting the influence of his acquaintance with the famous poet Can Yücel in this decision, Sarıbaş said, “It has been 15 years since I came to Datça. I had some knowledge about Datça. Thanks to my acquaintance with Can Baba, I decided to live in Datça. Datça affected me both with its climate, clean air, and intellectual and democratic people. I'm glad I made this decision. I am happy.”

Bringing together Datça and literature, Sarıbaş continues to contribute to the cultural memory of the region by writing about both his life and observations. The author, who stated that his new book is also in preparation, expressed that he will continue to produce.
