Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Sets an Example in Europe with the Mukhtar Academy

Within the scope of the Muhtarlık Academy studies conducted by the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Directorate of Muhtarlık Affairs, participation was made in the international project meeting held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, within the framework of the Erasmus+ “EU Green Technologies and Sustainable Agriculture (EUGREENSA)” Project, carried out in partnership with the Köyceğiz Innovative Development Association. It is planned that the information and experiences gained at the meeting will be shared by the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality teams with the headmen in Muğla.

Strong Contribution from the Metropolitan to International Cooperation

Comprehensive discussions were held with project partners on sustainable agricultural practices, green technologies, renewable energy use, climate change mitigation, and rural development at international meetings. Representatives of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality examined successful project examples implemented in European countries and exchanged information aimed at developing sustainability-focused efforts in local governments. The meetings also evaluated the current status of project activities and discussed the planning of collaborative work for the upcoming period.

Visit from Metropolitan Municipality to Ambassador Altan

Representatives of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality held a meeting with the Republic of Turkey's Ambassador to Romania, Özgür Kıvanç Altan, within the scope of the program. During the meeting, exchanges of views were made on strengthening local governments, participatory democracy practices, rural development policies, the importance of the headman institution in local administrations, and opportunities for international cooperation. Headman Academy Among Metropolitan's Vision Projects The Headman Academy, implemented by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, continues its work as an exemplary training model aimed at increasing the knowledge and skills of headmen. Through the academy, it is aimed to empower headmen not only as representatives who monitor the needs of their neighborhoods but also as competent local leaders in sustainable development, environmental management, participatory democracy, and project development.
