Torunoğulları: "Turkey-Netherlands trade volume will reach 20 billion dollars"

While the group opened its new 320-room hotel in Amsterdam, Orka Group Board Member Ercan Torunoğulları announced that the trade volume between Turkey and the Netherlands is targeted to reach 20 billion dollars within the next three years.

Orka Group Board Member, who has investments in hospitality, construction, real estate, tourism, and industry in Turkey and Europe, and is also a Member of Turkey Tourism Promotion Agency (TGA) Board and Executive Committee as well as Vice Chairman of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) Netherlands-Turkey Business Council, Ercan Torunoğulları, participated in the Turkey-Netherlands Roundtable Business Meeting held within the scope of the Turkey-Netherlands JETCO VI. Term Meeting held in the Netherlands.

After the meeting, Torunoğulları stated that the JETCO Memorandum signed between Turkey and the Netherlands is an important milestone in terms of economic and trade relations, and that the annual trade volume is initially aimed to increase from 14 billion dollars to 17 billion dollars, and then to 20 billion dollars within the next three years.

TURKEY-NETHERLANDS TRADE VOLUME WILL REACH 20 BILLION DOLLARS

After the meeting, Torunoğulları emphasized that the JETCO Memorandum signed between Turkey and the Netherlands is an important step in terms of economic and trade relations between the two countries.

“Today, I was greatly honored to attend the Turkey-Netherlands Roundtable Business Meeting, organized within the scope of the Turkey-Netherlands JETCO VI. Term Meeting held in the Netherlands, as Vice Chairman of DEİK Netherlands-Turkish Business Council.

The JETCO Memorandum signed between Turkey and the Netherlands is an important milestone to further strengthen the economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries. Within the scope of the memorandum, a joint target was set to initially increase the annual trade volume from 14 billion dollars to 17 billion dollars, and then to reach 20 billion dollars within the next three years.

In line with the strong economic and trade vision presented by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, I believe that such strategic steps aimed at strengthening Turkey's international economic partnerships will make significant contributions to our country's position in global trade.

As someone who was born and raised in the Netherlands and has been living in Turkey for the last 20 years, being a part of this strong economic bridge built between the two countries carries a special meaning for me.

In my speech at the meeting; I emphasized that Turkey and the Netherlands are strong complementary partners in the fields of tourism, sustainability, logistics, advanced manufacturing, and investment. I also particularly shared this message:

“MADE IN EUROPE WILL BE STRONGER WHEN IT INCLUDES TURKEY”

First of all, I thank our Minister of Trade Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat and the Netherlands Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Mr. Sjoerd Sjoerdsma; DEİK Chairman Nail Olpak, Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu, Turkey's Ambassador to The Hague Fatma Ceren Yazgan, and everyone who contributed to this important organization.

I sincerely believe that the strategic partnership between Turkey and the Netherlands will continue to grow with stronger trade, investment, and permanent collaborations in the upcoming term.”

NEW 320-ROOM HOTEL OPENED IN AMSTERDAM

As part of his program in the Netherlands, Ercan Torunoğulları announced the opening ceremony of the 320-room Radisson Amsterdam hotel constructed by ORKA Group in Amsterdam.

Torunoğulları said: “With the presence of our Minister of Trade Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat; Deputy Minister Mustafa Tuzcu, Netherlands Ambassador Fatma Ceren Yazgan, DEİK Chairman Nail Olpak and DEİK/DTİK city representatives from various cities in Europe attended, we proudly and excitedly held the opening of our new 320-room hotel in Amsterdam.

The presence of our minister on this meaningful day and attending our opening was a great honor and source of motivation for us.

Today’s pride is not just about a hotel opening. It is a great source of pride for all of us that the first generation who came to Europe about 60 years ago with their labor and sweat has now reached the point of investing, creating employment, establishing international brands, and adding value to millions of people.

The opening of this investment in Amsterdam with the attendance of our Minister of Trade is a strong indicator of the level Turkish entrepreneurs abroad have reached and that our government stands by its citizens wherever they are in the world.

Led by our President, the strong support that our government gives to our citizens living abroad and Turkish entrepreneurs always provides us with confidence and courage. Thanks to this support, Turkish businessmen abroad not only contribute to the economies of the countries they reside in but also successfully represent Turkey’s economic power and reputation internationally.

As Turkey gets stronger, Turks abroad get stronger as well. As our country gets stronger, Turks living all around the world will also become stronger; we will continue to represent our country in the best way, invest, create employment, and proudly wave our crescent-starred flag in Europe.
