From Muğlaspor players to Kıyanç: "If told to play for free, we would come"

At the ceremony where the jersey sponsors of Muğlaspor, which was promoted to the Trendyol 1st League, were introduced, President Menaf Kıyanç made important statements about the transfer process. Emphasizing their determination to maintain the club's debt-free structure, Kıyanç said that some players wanted to stay at Muğlaspor despite receiving high offers. Kıyanç expressed, “There are players who said, 'If you tell me to play for free, six or seven of us will come to play.'" He stated that Muğlaspor's debt-free status is a great advantage and that they are not aiming for showy transfers but want to build a structure that will not financially risk the club. Kıyanç also mentioned that, although the contracts of current players expire at the end of the season, they called him expressing their desire to stay at Muğlaspor.

"There's no point in reaching the Super League with 1 billion debt"

President Menaf Kıyanç said that serious amounts are being discussed in the transfer market, but they will not put the club under debt burden for short-term applause. Kıyanç said,

"Right now, it has turned into a show, and I could do like many teams who perhaps have resources to do it, but bringing this player to Muğla is easy. They come immediately. But they demand serious money. I could bring them too. I would be applauded remarkably for a month or two. No problem at all. But at the end of the season, we look at each other. Many clubs are currently on a downward spiral in Turkey because of this. There is no point in taking this club up to the Super League by leaving it with 1 billion in debt. Balancing both is so difficult. Player expenses have increased tremendously, and supports have decreased. Now, we are trying to balance this," he said.

"Muğlaspor pays everything it commits to"

Kıyanç also said that some try to create the perception that Muğlaspor is not paying much, stating, "We haven't made a transfer for a few days. We say we will not engage in showbiz. We will build a football team that believes in this. We will transfer these players, but financially we must not make transfers that set us and the club back. Look, the perception is so bad. While we do this, a perception is also created by agents and certain circles that Muğlaspor doesn’t pay much. We are trying to manage this as well. Muğlaspor pays everything it commits to. This is very valuable, but other clubs do not fulfill their commitments," he said.

"We are an exception club without a file at the federation"

Pointing to Muğlaspor's debt-free structure, Kıyanç said:

"Let's see how many teams in the 1st League have no debt. Think of a club, including the president, that doesn’t have a file at the federation. This is an exceptional club. Think of a club that has no debt to public institutions. Think of a club that owes no debt to the market or to anyone. Owes no debt to players. This club is incredibly advantaged in this regard. Therefore, we are not falling for tricks. We are currently managing the situation correctly. We are being patient together with our coach. We aim to build a group and unity of players who prefer this club, saying, 'I want to get my guaranteed money. I want to live in a peaceful place. I don’t want to have problems with the management during the season. But I am a player and will move to higher leagues afterwards.' This is not an easy job."

"We made an effort to bring our coach to the club"

Kıyanç said they put in great effort to bring head coach Yalçın Koşukavak to the club and noted that a negative perception has been created externally about Muğlaspor. He said, "We made an effort to bring our coach to this club because the perception outside is very ruthless. It’s a team newly promoted, with limited budget. They ruthlessly spread the perception that nothing will come of this. Our coach was a coach who had offers including from the Super League. We explained to him for 2-3 days," he said.

"They said if told to play for free, 6-7 friends would come"

President Kıyanç detailed some players’ loyalty to Muğlaspor with remarkable words.

Kıyanç said, "Our contracts with our players are over. All of them. They told me they waited for me and said, ‘Mr. President, we want to stay here.’ Goalkeeper İsmet was going to the airport for military service. He said, ‘I got a 17.5 million offer, Mr. President, but I want to come to Muğlaspor for 10-12 million.’ He is not doing this for Menaf Kıyanç; he has attachment to this city. At the end, he said, ‘If told to play for free, six or seven friends and I will come to play.’ These kids didn't make an agreement without calling me; they are not obliged to. All called me one by one."
