Menaf Kıyanç Made a Call to the Hunger Strike of the Fans in Muğla
While the hunger strike started by Muğlaspor fans at Sınırsızlık Square continued on its second day, President Menaf Kıyanç called for the termination of the protest.
In Muğlaspor, the process before the congress took on a new dimension with the hunger strike started by fans at Sınırsızlık Square. The protest, carried out by Emirhan Kıbrıslı and Onur Dinçer, presidents of the 1967 Muğlaspor Supporters Association, continued on its second day, while Club President Menaf Kıyanç visited the fans and requested that they end the strike to avoid risking their health.
Critical Wait at the Square Before the Congress
Exciting days are being experienced before the upcoming congress at Muğlaspor. Emirhan Kıbrıslı and Onur Dinçer, presidents of the 1967 Muğlaspor Supporters Association, started a hunger strike by setting up a tent at Menteşe Sınırsızlık Square, and continued their protest on the second day.
The fans who spent the night in the tent announced that they would continue the protest they started for the future of the green and white club. The fans' wait at the square caused widespread reaction within the Muğlaspor community, and Club President Menaf Kıyanç and board members also visited the fans in their tent.

President Kıyanç’s Call to Fans: Don’t Jeopardize Your Health
Muğlaspor Club President Menaf Kıyanç thanked the fans for their support to the club during the visit. Kıyanç stated that he understood the fans' sensitivity but said that a hunger strike was not a proper method health-wise and asked for the protest to be ended.
Emphasizing that they are not power-hungry, Kıyanç said he was at the square so that the process would not be misunderstood.
Kıyanç expressed the following in his statement:
“Let me say this clearly and openly; no action that affects people's health is right. I am here because I do not want this process to be interpreted differently. President Hamza has put in serious effort during this process. According to the request of the protocol, we postponed the general assembly to June 12. Neither we nor President Hamza, no one, is so weak as to tell anyone 'Take action for Menaf Kıyanç.' All the reactions are not against individuals but for Muğlaspor. Even though we said we would not be candidates, we go to Ankara early in the morning, running around to complete the stadium and solve the club's problems. Muğlaspor is the biggest brand value that can unite this city. Our Governor and Metropolitan Mayor also do their best, but clearly, it is not enough. We have an obligation to turn this into action. Muğlaspor should no longer be a club that begs but one that does business in return for investment and earns permanent income. It is essential to have a management understanding and financial capabilities required by this league. Although I do not agree with the name of the protest, a hunger strike is not a proper method because it harms your health. You made your voices heard, you told this city. I ask you, please end this protest tonight.”
“Muğlaspor Should Be a Club with Permanent Income, Not a Begging One”
One of the most important messages highlighted in President Menaf Kıyanç’s statements was the need for Muğlaspor to have sustainable income sources in the future. Kıyanç stated that the green and white club is a great brand value for the city and should be managed with a permanent income model based on investment, not just temporary support.
He emphasized the necessity of acquiring the management approach and economic structure required by the league Muğlaspor participates in and pointed out that the congress process should be evaluated within this framework.
Clear Message from the Fans: We Are Here Until the Congress
1967 Muğlaspor Supporters Association President Emirhan Kıbrıslı said that their protest was not against individuals but for the future of Muğlaspor. Kıbrıslı called for support to the club and stated that they would maintain their stance in the square until the congress.
Kıbrıslı expressed the following:
“Our goal is Muğlaspor. Muğlaspor has always been the main priority. What people say or do has no importance to us. Muğlaspor is above politics in this city. For it to be above politics, people need to come out to a protest or a street. We stand behind our president, and we will stay here for about 4-5 more days until the congress.
Some people find it strange and say ‘you can't do it,’ but we resist. Some said ‘you will disappear after 12-13 hours’; we have no intention of disappearing, we intend to grow. On Tuesday, we will be here with a bigger organization. Our Governor said ‘2026 Youth Year,’ and we, together with young people, are taking ownership of Muğlaspor. Our protest is not against anyone; we want to make the youth love Muğlaspor.”
Message of a Larger Organization on Tuesday
Emirhan Kıbrıslı stated that the protest at the square would continue to grow and that they would organize a larger event on Tuesday. The fans expressed that the movement started for the future of Muğlaspor is not only a reaction but also a call to ownership aiming to make the youth love the club.
The fans emphasized that Muğlaspor should not be left alone during the congress process as they continue to wait at Sınırsızlık Square.
