Little Ones Turned the School Hall into a Museum
In Köyceğiz, preschool students set up a mini museum in the school hall and learned the purposes of old items in a hands-on way.
Preschool students in Köyceğiz district of Muğla had the opportunity to closely familiarize themselves with items used in the past through a mini museum created in the school hall.
In the event organized under the guidance of Köyceğiz Preschool Classroom Teacher Leyla Konak Güldüler, kindergarten students transformed the school hall into a museum corner displaying nostalgic items. A mini museum prepared with the contributions of teachers, parents, school staff, and students featured many items such as oil lamps, old copper tools, pitchers, early telephone models, and coffee grinders.
The children visiting the museum learned about the purposes for which old tools and equipment, often seen as decorative items in their homes, were used in the past. The little ones got to know the items not only by seeing them but also by experiencing how to use them practically.
Thanks to the event, it was stated that students learned the concepts of “antique,” “museum,” “old,” and “new” with concrete examples rather than abstract explanations. The mini museum prepared at Köyceğiz Preschool provided an educational experience for the children and nostalgic moments for the visitors.
