Marmaris on the World Stage with Tour de France Excitement
Marmaris is stepping onto the world stage by hosting 700 cyclists from 16 countries with Visa Maximiles Black L’Étape Marmaris by Tour de France.
Marmaris will host international cycling enthusiasts over the weekend with the Visa Maximiles Black L’Étape Marmaris by Tour de France event. The event, which will feature 120 foreign athletes from 16 countries and a total of 700 cyclists, will make the district one of the important centers of sports tourism.
Tour de France Atmosphere Moves to Marmaris
The official amateur series of one of the world's most prestigious cycling events, Tour de France, Visa Maximiles Black L’Étape Marmaris by Tour de France, has started in Marmaris.
The opening of the organization was held at the Expo Area set up at 19 May Youth Square. Throughout the weekend, Marmaris, which will be the center of sports, tourism, and cycling culture, will allow athletes from different countries to experience the Tour de France atmosphere.

High Attendance at the Opening
The opening of the Expo area was attended by Marmaris District Governor Nurullah Kaya, Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü, L’Étape Marmaris by Tour de France Director Ömer Kafkas, L’Étape Series by Tour de France Project Manager Mathieu Clanchin, Marmaris Deputy Mayor Sedat Kirt, the world-famous sports media L'Équipe Cycling Editor Gilles Comte, representatives of public institutions, and event officials.
With the opening, the two-day cycling excitement in Marmaris was also officially started.

Mathieu Clanchin, Project Manager of L’Étape Series by Tour de France, thanked all the teams who contributed to the realization of the event and wished success to the athletes participating in the race.
Clanchin stated that they aim for all participants and cycling enthusiasts to enjoy the atmosphere of this popular event and expressed hopes to further expand the organization in future years.
“Marmaris is a Very Important Destination for Sports Tourism”
Ömer Kafkas, Director of L’Étape Marmaris by Tour de France, said that preparations are nearing completion and that a historic event will take place in Marmaris.
Kafkas said, “We are happy to organize the official stage of one of the world’s biggest sports events in Marmaris. Sports tourism is rapidly developing worldwide and represents a very large market. Turkey, with all its natural beauties, is one of the most ambitious countries in sports tourism in this multi-billion dollar market. Marmaris, with its natural beauties, climate, and routes, is a very important destination for sports tourism. With this event, we are hosting athletes and cycling enthusiasts from different countries around the world in Marmaris.”
Acar Ünlü: Marmaris is the Most Suitable City for These Events
Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü said the event matches Marmaris’s natural structure.
Ünlü said, “Marmaris is a very suitable city for these kinds of events in terms of sports, nature, and tourism. Running, walking, and cycling events can be held here very strongly. Having a world-renowned brand like Tour de France in Marmaris is very valuable for us. This event will not only increase interest in cycling but also contribute significantly to sports tourism.”

District Governor Kaya: Marmaris in the World Elite League
Marmaris District Governor Nurullah Kaya emphasized the great importance of the event for promoting the district.
Kaya said, “Thanks to this event, athletes and spectators from all over the world will also see these beauties up close. Sports tourism is a very important area for Marmaris. With the competitions, we reveal the features of our Marmaris. Today, with this event, we are making an effort to show once again that we are in the world elite league.”
Governor Kaya also mentioned the road closures that will be implemented due to the race and drew attention to safety issues.
Races Will be Held on Two Separate Courses
The events will start with the Public Ride on Saturday, June 6, at 11:00 AM.
The organization will conclude with an award ceremony following the long course of 96.7 kilometers and the short course of 65.8 kilometers races on Sunday, June 7.
The Expo Area, open for two days, will bring athletes, brands, and cycling enthusiasts together at the same location.
Athletes from 16 Countries Will Gather in Marmaris
120 foreign athletes from 16 countries will participate in the event. A total of 700 cyclists, including 70 women, will pedal on Marmaris roads.
Visa Maximiles Black L’Étape Marmaris by Tour de France will showcase not only the district's sporting identity but also its tourism potential on the world stage.
