More than 700 athletes from 16 countries pedaled
L’Etape Marmaris by Tour de France, one of the world's most prestigious amateur cycling events, was held amidst the unique nature and historical beauties of Marmaris. The event, which brought together more than 700 cyclists from 16 different countries as well as Turkey, united cycling enthusiasts for two days.
The race started at 08:00 AM from the 19 May Youth Square. The event, attended by Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık, Marmaris District Governor Nurullah Kaya, L’Etape Marmaris by Tour de France Director Ömer Kafkas, Muğla Youth and Sports Provincial Director Kazım Açıkgöz, Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü, Marmaris Youth and Sports Director Burak Üstündağ, and L’Etape Series by Tour de France Project Manager Mathieu Clanchin, featured athletes cycling on routes covering İçmeler, Turunç, and Amos. Both local and foreign athletes showcased their endurance and performance amid the unique scenery of Marmaris.

'Champions announced'
In the 96.8-kilometer long track, Anton Hrabovskyi took first place in the men's category with a time of 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 21 seconds. In the women's category, Şeniz Pamuk reached the top of the podium with a time of 3 hours, 47 minutes, and 31 seconds.
In the 65.8-kilometer short track, İsmet Doğanay Yüksek won first place in the men's category with a time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 28 seconds, while Aylin Yüce became the champion in the women's category with a time of 2 hours, 19 minutes, and 31 seconds.

They earned the right to compete in France
The athletes who became champions in the overall classification earned the right to participate in L’Etape du Tour 2026, which will be held on the 20th stage route of the Tour de France on July 19. This achievement was regarded as an important opportunity for the athletes on the international stage.
At the award ceremony held after the races, medals were presented to the top athletes by provincial and district officials and race directors.
Marmaris District Governor Nurullah Kaya thanked all institutions, officials, volunteers, and athletes who contributed to the successful completion of the event, stating that Marmaris will continue to host national and international sports events. (İHA)
